2018 Mileage Contest By Walt Eschmann

Posted on

Hi folks, I have your final mileage numbers for 2018. As evidenced of a trend from 2017, total mileage on an individual basis remains on a downward trend, with only one rider (Bill Haugen) out of the 10 responding participants to this year’s mileage contest posting an increase. In addition, the program experienced a 47% decrease in participation, which I might suggest as a lack of interest in continuing the mileage contest in the future. That will be something for the club to consider in the coming months as we move into the 2019 rider year as a challenge to continue or take a break for awhile. 2018 results are as follows:

First Place: Jeff Ackerman with a total of 23,239 miles

Second Place: Jim Shaw with a total of 13,339 miles

Third Place: Walt Eschmann with a total of 12,830 miles

Fourth Place: Bill Haugen at 8,300 miles (The only rider to show an increase for the year)

Fifth Place: David Griffin at 8,233 miles

Sixth Place: Jay Green at 8,227 miles

Seventh Place: Mary Ackerman at 7,629 miles

Eighth Place: Bill Graham at 2,312 miles

Ninth Place: Tom Krapu at 1922 miles

Tenth Place: Richard Leslie at 1192 miles

Decreases ranged from 1% to a high of 47% with the one standout of Bill Haugen increasing almost 200% in riding mileage. Congratulations to Jeff Ackerman on another outstanding year of racking up mileage and to Bill with his huge increase over last year. I’m sure there were many memories per mile gained over the 2018 year period.

I hope to see everyone on the road in 2019.
