The Savior, AMA magazine story about the R90S

Posted on

In the November 2023 issue of the American Motorcyclist detailed how the introduction of the R90S saved the motorcycle business from being discontinued by the BMW corporation.
Newly hired BMW auto executive Robert Lutz looked beyond the corporate suits and with Hans-Albrecht Muth designed the R90S. It was a big hit at the 1973 Paris Auto Show. The story goes on to tell of its success in Superbike racing and overcoming Medias initial reluctance to its high price.
AMA is rafflling a 1975 R90S (black smoke) for the mere sum of $5/ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.
The drawing will be at the 2024 Vintage Days Rally, so you have plenty of time to get a few dollars together. Go to “AMA-cycle-org” for details.
