Preparations for the 43rd Falling Leaf Rally are well underway! This year’s 2018 Falling Leaf Rally will be bigger and better than ever before. Rally-Coordinator Bill Haugen has taken command and put together another stellar team of volunteers to continue our tradition of providing one of the best end-of-season rallying experiences.

Our past rally chairs have given their time and insight as we prepare for the fall of 2018. The Lions Club of Potosi will once again provide their fair grounds to the Falling Leaf Rally. So, mark you calendars for October 12 – 14, 2018.

Volunteers are our main resource for making the Falling Leaf Rally a success over the last 42 years. Our rally “management” team consists of dedicated members who are willing to be the “go-to person” that makes sure each part of the rally goes well. These rally guys and gals run their area with an expertise gained from many years of experience. Many thanks to these folks, listed below.

We always appreciate our guest volunteers who travel to the Falling Leaf Rally and pitch in to help make the Falling Leaf Rally a success. Our volunteer desk is now open. Contact Bill Haugen, Rally-Coordinator, or any of our committee heads below if you want to volunteer for the 2018 Falling Leaf Rally.

There are some areas that need coordinators. So lots of opportunity to get involved!

Registration: Our Gateway Riders’ members handle all of the duties at the Registration Desk. This year Cathy Bissel will coordinate this important task, so any Gateway Rider member who is interested in working the Registration Desk, let Cathy know.

Prizes and Awards: Dave Bissel and Marilyn Roberts. Another member only area, so not handled through the volunteer desk. Dave and Marilyn shouldn’t be the only people at the desk all day Friday and Saturday, so they could use some Gateway Riders’ member volunteers. Give them a hand!
Open Position Volunteer Desk: (your name here). Organize volunteer sign up and be proactive during registration to fill the most needed volunteer spots. Be the ambassador to volunteers at the Saturday evening pizza party.
Utility: Phil Sulfstede handles many responsibilities around the grounds. He may need help from time to time, but he decides if he needs volunteers. If he asks you, please help!
Bike Show, Ice, and Firewood: Jim Shaw will get this done, and may ask you to help.
Open Position Gate and Grounds: Jim Vincent takes care of staffing the gate, parking, vendor set up, special needs campers, and liaison to the Sheriff Auxiliary. This can be a mix of members or attendees. He is always looking for someone to work with him.
Hot Dog Roast: George Seide carries this out with panache. Volunteers are always need to start the fires, manage the supplies, set up tables, and keep the lines moving with hot dogs, buns, plates and condiments. Members and attendees are welcome to pitch in for short time slots.

Beverages: coffee, lemonade, hot chocolate, tea, and ice. Walt Eschman and Glen Anderson are coordinating these key volunteers. Volunteers can be members or attendees. Experienced help needed during rush times including Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Open Position Pizza Party: Open Position. Help with setting up the volunteers’ party in the barn by getting the chairs, tables, drinks and utensils ready. It’s quick and fun and you’ll meet all of your fellow volunteers.
Tommy Huff GS ride: Tommy Huff. Tom Huff leads a group of dual-sport riders through some of the best scenic gravel and paved roads in Missouri. Tommy know these seldom traveled roads like the back of his hand. You’re in for a treat on this group-led ride. Jeff Ackerman assists. Generally, no volunteers called for.
Jeff Ackerman Observation/poker run: Jeff Ackerman. Jeff plans the route for the maximum scenic impact and your chance to travel some of the area’s most fun motorcycle roads. Jeff will creates the map, and generally coordinates this self guided tour. He will get a volunteer if he needs one.
Open Position Den: Open Position. Organize a team to keep the den welcoming and clean.
Open Position Bathrooms: Open Position. Keep the bathrooms and showers supplied and clean. We have all the gloves, cleaning supplies to make this job easy. It’s not as hard as it sounds, but well appreciated by rally goers.
Open Position Sunday morning clean and packing: All hands on deck! We can use everyone and anyone to help wrap up the last day of the Falling Leaf Rally. When everybody helps, this goes really fast.
